In this penultimate newsletter of the BCS year 2021/22, as promised, I wanted to share with you two exciting changes to our community coming your way:
Firstly, we will soon have a new home for everything we need to know as BCS volunteers – the BCS Volunteer Hub. The Volunteer Hub is a new set of webpages designed to eventually replace the existing Volunteer Portal with some added new features too – making it the go-to site for budget processes, setting up member group events, finding a new role and more. BCS staff have had input from BCS volunteers to ensure the site meets our needs, but it is a continuous improvement project, and your suggestions are very much welcomed after launch (we will have a suggestion box on the Hub for this purpose!).
Towards the end of Summer, you will also receive a delightful read – our new Community Impact Report. This new brochure celebrates the important work we all do as a BCS membership and as a cohort of BCS volunteers, to ensure the work our industries do has wider societal benefit and is ethically sound. I am so pleased to see this report come together celebrating your impact and bringing to the life the four pillars of the BCS strategy: membership, inspiration, progression, and influence.
I do hope, like me, you view these changes as BCS moving in the right direction and addressing what our volunteers need to carry out our important work, as well as recognising how your roles are making such a big difference to our community. Thank you for all that you do!
