As we emerge from the last two years, I’m sure many will reflect on just how important the role of community is to our social and professional lives. In the context of BCS, meeting together allows us to draw inspiration from each other and to help technology develop positively. It is through our interactions that we address ethical issues such as the digital divide, making sure we leave no one behind. It may seem like a daunting task, with so much happening in the world at present, but I feel it is the small droplets that create a lake – holding webinars, hosting live events, working with the BCS Policy team, and conversing on the new BCS Community platform – which allows us, as the BCS community, to come together to make IT good for society.
In the spirit of community and collaboration, for the first year ever we have published the plans of all member groups for the next financial year on the BCS Community along with a summary analysis by Jon Jeffery. We hope that by sharing these plans, we are able to inspire and learn from each other, utilising our scale as community for positive impact.
